CLOSE-UP CONTEST RULES
To Enter
Any member in good standing may sign up for this
competition by simply sending an e-mail or by phoning any one of the
officers. Sign up as early as possible; sign ups will be accepted up to
24 hours before the competition is schedule to begin.
The Venue The
goal is to create an atmosphere as close to a formal close-up environment as
possible. Close-up is defined as an act presented
in a formal performing area with a table. If you've visited the Magic Castle, picture its close-up room.
Guests will join together in groups of about 20 and will be seated typically
in 2-3 rows arranged in a semicircle. The last row will likely be standing to allow all
to view the table.
Rules

Only paid up members of Ring 216 are
eligible to perform

An act may be performed without using a
table but a table will be present. Up to two seats will be available
for spectators to sit at the table next to the contestant.

Performances must be accomplished
between 6 and 10 minutes and should include at least two effects. A
penalty will be assessed if the performance runs under or over the time
limits above.

Two performance areas will be set up in
different rooms. Each contestant will perform the same act twice
i.e. once in each room.
Judging
The decision of the judges, president and
board is FINAL. Every effort will be made to complete the scoring and
determine the winners on the same evening as the competition is held.
In the event that the time allotted does not permit this, winners will be
notified by e-mail or phone and the results of the competition will be
announced at the next Ring 216 meeting. |
