Recap of the Annual Awards Banquet and Show

Fred Rasmussen, 2011 Ring 216 President, introduced the new officers for 2012 including President Cal Tong, Vice President Raahul Srinivasan, Treasurer Will Chandler, and Sergeant at Arms John Jones. Fred also announced the winners of the 2011 Ring 216 Competitions:  First place winner in the Walk-Around Competition was Theron Schaub, first place winner in the Close-Up Competition was Cal Tong, and first place winner in the Stage/Parlor Competition as well as the Life Time Achievement Award Winner was Joe Caffall.   Next, the 2012 Ring 216 President Elect (Cal Tong) presented Fred the Past Presidents Award.  Continuing the evening’s event, Master of Ceremonies Jon Steigman performed his comedy newspaper tear.   David Clavens, performing the opening act, started off with a few of his amazing mentalism presentations direct from his Palo Alto Dragon Theater Mind Reading Show.   Farrel Dillon, our main event entertainer from Southern California, expertly entertained the audience with his skillful sleight of hand routines and his comedic escape act.  Many thanks to the planners of this event (the 2011 Ring 216 Officers) and to the set up and tear down crew (Will, John Jones, Steve Silverman, Fred, Cal , and David) for helping to make this even possible.

IBM Ring 216 Magic - Professional Lecture

IBM Ring 216 Magic  

We had a great turn out at the first Ring 216 meeting of the 2012 year!   Fred Rasmussen, 2011  President, introduced the new officers for 2012 including President Cal Tong, Vice President Raahul Srinivasan, Treasurer Will Chandler, and Sergeant at Arms John Jones.  Around 35 members attended the Free Pizza Night and Teach-In event.  SAM 92 President Kim Silverman lead a Teach-In on the topic of “Making Close Up Magic bigger to accommodate a Parlor Environment. “    Kim covered many topics such as audience management, posture, voice, handling of props, eye contact, hand positions, line of sight to the audience in the back of the room, and much more.
