PARLOR/STAGE CONTEST
RULES
To Enter
Any member in good standing may sign up for this
competition by simply sending an e-mail or by phoning any one of the
officers. Sign up as early as possible; sign ups will be accepted upto
24 hours before the competition is schedule to begin.
The Venue The
goal is to create an atmosphere as close to a real stage environment as
possible. The audience will be seated at least 6 feet from the
performer who will be on a raised platform (if possible) witha curtain for a
backdrop.

Only paid up members of Ring 216 are
eligible to perform

Parlor is defined as a performance that
may be carried out in its entirety in a 4 x 8 foot area separated from the
audience by 6 feet or more. The performing area is on the same level
as the spectators or slightly raised (i.e. it is not a raised stage).
It may optionally include such props as a draped table and chair(s).
All other props (provided by the magician) must be carried on, setup, and
carried off in the allotted time period. The natural venue for this
type of show would included birthday parties and smaller shows for
corporations at luncheons or trade booths.

The performance must be accomplished in
a minimum of 6 minutes and a maximum of 12 minutes.
Judging
The decision of the judges, president and
board is FINAL. Non-participants will rate the performers in three
categories using a scale of 1 to 6 in each (six being the best mark
possible). The three categories are:

Presentation - Did the
participant establish eye contact with the audience and minimize
distracting twitches or mannerisms; and was he/she dressed appropriately
with proper posture, diction and speed.?

Technique/Technical - Did the
participant flash, reveal, or fumble over techiques or patter?

Magical/Entertainment Value -
Were the effects truly magical in nature, entertaining in the presentation
and was the finish clearly understood and related to the presentation?
